Sad News – Keith Brain (Watford I.B.C)

Many of you will already have heard that our President, Keith Brain, very sadly passed away on Monday 31st May at home with his family around him. He had been ill for several months and this was diagnosed as late stage stomach cancer. Many of our newer members will remember Keith as the very cheerful coach who ensured their introduction to bowls was a happy one.

We have delayed posting this message because we do not know whether the funeral will be open to all who wish to attend or whether there will still be a limit of 30 and we wanted to get details of the webcast.

The funeral will be on 25th June at the West Herts Crematorium at 11:20,  followed by refreshments at Herts Bowling Club, Bellmount Wood Avenue, Watford. Anyone wishing to watch a webcast of the service should please email matthew@laycock.com and he will provide you with the link.

Ken Duncan RIP – Funeral 17th April

Simon Johnson has put the following onto the W&DBA Facebook page

The funeral of the late Ken Duncan will take place on Friday 17th April 2020 at 3.20pm at West Herts Crematorium, Garston. The Service will be led by Peter McNulty.

Due to the restrictions currently in place only ten people are able to attend the funeral.

Peter McNulty has asked me to circulate the following:

“At almost exactly 3.50pm on Friday 17th April 2020 I will be closing the curtain at West Harts Crematorium in a final farewell to a good friend, colleague and fellow bowler, known and loved by so many of us, Ken Duncan.

In these times of severe restrictions on numbers attending services it occurs to me that it would be a gesture if at 3.50pm those who wish to do so could stop what they are doing and just spend a minute or two thinking about Ken. I will let the family know during the service that this is happening.”

Peter.
